I founded CRC Writing & Publicity in 2000 having spent 25 years as a journalist, academic researcher and writer. I now work with one or two associates including a technical writer who can write in three languages.
On leaving Oxford with a history degree I joined a political conference centre for the Conservative Party as conference organiser and administrator, and followed this by joining The Daily Mirror as a management trainee. I left to become a specialist business journalist. Meanwhile I studied part-time for a degree in organisational psychology and personnel at London university. I learnt about essay writing again, and quickly realised the difference between an academic environment and the world of business.
Between 1973 and 1985 I wrote for a number of publications full-time or freelance including: Chief Executive, International Management, Management Today, Engineering Today, The Economist and the Yorkshire Post. Meanwhile I studied for a Diploma in European Management, and carried out organisational research at ICI’s operations in Paris for several months.
After 1985 I undertook research and writing for Hospital Corporation of America, Ashridge Business School and Henley Management College. At the same time I wrote a number of books under the name of Clive Cavendish Rassam. These include: Secrets of Success: What You Can Learn from Britain’s Entrepreneurs; Shaping the Corporate Future with Kevin Barham at Ashridge Business School; Design and Corporate Success; Management Consultancy: the Inside Story; The Second Culture: British Science in Crisis.
Meanwhile I studied at Brunel University for a degree in the Management of Innovation. It was there that I realised that many people struggle with write essay writing no matter how gifted they are. I also went back into the political world for a short time, becoming Political Assistant to Peter Temple-Morris MP.
Between 2001 and 2005 I was a business advisor to Thames Business Advice Centre and its successor Oxfordshire Business Enterprises, helping start-up businesses to develop their strategy and marketing.
Since 2008 I have been providing not only writing and publicity services but also coaching and training in writing and public speaking. The theme in all these activities is how we use words to communicate what we want to say. Are we saying what we really want or mean to say, and is our message being understood.? I have discovered coaching and training to be one of the most enjoyable things that I do.
I operate from Chester, Oxford and London.
Recent clients include: Recruitment & Employment Confederation, The Coverdale Organisation (management consultancy and training), British Airline Pilots Association.
