But before you start, your objectives have to be clear and your content has to be well structured. It isn’t only what you say, but how and where you say it, that will influence your reader. I can coach you to write with greater expression, how to make your writing more appealing visually and emotionally, and how to generate the impact that you want. In other words, I can help you to create power and interest in your writing, so that your readers warm to your message and respond in the way that you want.

 

Writing Reports that are Read:

 

A well-written report can be highly influential. To achieve success it needs a clearly thought-out plan, well marshalled arguments, excellent headings and an interesting narrative. And detail that is relevant and sited in the most pivotal places. A persuasive tone and skilful use of words and ideas is also important. Above all, it needs to put the central message in a wider context and address the reader’s possible scepticism. Words, facts and statistics do not necessarily speak for themselves. It is a mistake that many specialists make. Let me coach you to write a report that has all the data that it requires, but which is so compellingly written that you have won the argument before the reader is half way through.

 

Publicity for Profit

 

Understanding the different audiences and the different media that your publicity is aimed at is absolutely critical. This is true of writing brochures, leaflets and flyers as it is in writing newsletters and press releases. I will show you how to write brochures, leaflets and flyers that are focused, stimulating and effective. And which link your publicity to your marketing to ensure maximum impact. Newsletters and press releases can prove very profitable if they’re written in a timely and vivid way. They need to be concise, pacy, compelling and have value for your readers. Your readers need to benefit in some way from your newsletter or press release – as do you. So what is the one thing that you want to achieve? I’ll coach you to produce newsletters and other publicity materials that will get you and your organisation noticed and which will generate interest and action.

 

Website Writing for Success

 

Your website is your shop window. So it needs to show clarity in its offerings, its benefits and its layout and in its navigational structure. It has to be appealing on many levels, emotionally, intellectually, and on a practical level also. So the language, tone and the very words you use will be crucial to its success. And your copy must work in harmony with your graphics and design. Is the purpose of the site to inform existing clients and contacts, or to reach out to new ones via the search engines? Do you have one target audience or several? What do you want your visitors to think, feel and do as a result of seeing your site? How multi-dimensional and multi-sensory do you want your site to be? Will you use audio-visual material, blogs etc. There are a raft of techniques that I can coach you to use, so that you create the website that achieves what you want it to.

 

Essay Writing – the Easy Way

 

A lot of students – mature as well as first time – struggle with their essay writing. But essay writing can be easy – and even fun! I’ve studied and written essays at four universities – Oxford, London, Teeside and Brunel – on subjects ranging from history, war and architecture to organisation psychology, management and innovation. I’ve learnt about structure, style and content, and I’ve found a way to write that pleases lecturers and professors and also satisfies me. Essay writing is a skill that you can learn.

 

Once you start to practise the skills of good essay writing your reading and your understanding of your subject will also improve. You will read and research more efficiently. You will become clearer about the issues in your subject, and your own views will become sharper. You will start to enjoy essay writing. Essay writing will become a creative activity.
